The Acura NSX made its appearance in 1990, and was made entirely in Japan. A lot has changed.

The supercar is ready to make another return to the roadways, but unlike its predecessor, it will be produced in the next likely place…Ohio. The Acura NSX is a rare breed, because most exotic, mid-engine rides are produced overseas.

Karl Brauer, Kelley Blue Book analyst, said, "You see foreign automakers like Toyota, BMW and Mercedes more and more commit 100-percent of development of U.S. vehicles to North America. But the unique thing about Honda is this is their very top-end car. their commitment to the U.S. is really stronger than any other automaker."

Plus, not only is the next-gen NSX produced in the states, but its chief engineer and design er are both Americans as well.

Frank Paluch, president of Honda R&D Americas said that, "The NSXs biggest market is going to be North America." Paluch added, "To make it successful for this market, Honda gave us the responsibility to develop it. The magic here is taking the best in Japan and then putting it together to what we know of this market."

Hondas immense, 4-million-square-foot Marysville assembly will produce the performance-heavy NSX, and currently churns out the Honda Accord, Acura ILX and TLX. Down the road in the East Liberty Plant, the Honda CR-V and Acura RDX can be found, and soon the MDX. Paluch said about the plants, "Well basically have all of our Acura manufacturing right here in one location - with us leading development hand-in-hand so we can start leap-frogging technologies."
